About Open Books
Open Books is a long-form journal about how accounting teams, controllers, consultants, and IT admins actually live with their ERP and accounting systems — the close, the cutover, the spreadsheet that quietly does the work the system can't. Stories, not verdicts.
Subjects are anonymized by default. Names appear only when a subject explicitly opts in for a specific post. The point is to capture what really happens, not to perform.
Who writes it
John Morehead. I'm a Corporate Finance consultant and software developer based in San Antonio, Texas. I'm writing this partly to learn and share learning, partly because I'm thinking about building something in the corporate finance operations space, and partly because the stories deserve to be told. All three reasons are real.
How to be a subject
If you live with an ERP or accounting system and have a story worth telling — about a close that went sideways, an implementation that surprised you, a workflow you built to work around the system — get in touch. Conversations are recorded for reference only; nothing gets published without your review and consent.
